On the structural damping response of hollow carbon composite shafts with room temperature curable novel acrylic liquid thermoplastic resin

Current research investigates the structural damping response of hollow tubular structures with novel acrylic liquid thermoplastic Elium® resin (EL) and thin ply carbon(TPC) woven carbon(WC) as reinforcement. The results are compared baseline tubes manufactured conventional epoxy (EP) systems. have shown 26.7% higher for TPC/EL 27.3% WC/EL to TPC/EP WC/EP configuration respectively at all accelerometer positions during modal analysis tests. viscoelastic presence in its amorphous chemical structure opposed cross-linked state good fibre matrix interfacial bonding is major contributing factor towards this increase. Damping also that thickness tube has a positive effect (1.6 mm 1.1 mm) on contrary, an increase volume fraction (64% 41%) adverse phenomenon, 10% 85% lower respectively.
